Co-Director Position Description


Salem Evangelical church has served the Salem Community for over 160 years. The Co-Director actively engages and serves in our daily Highland Hawks Kids Club after-school program. The purpose of this ministry is to provide a vibrant educational, spiritual, and physical presence by building purpose and community with the students and their families.


As part of the team, the Co-Director assists in leading a large group of volunteers, organizing, and implementing educational, recreational, and social functions for more than fifty children from 2:30 – 5:15 pm, Monday through Friday (four hours daily).


The Co-Director reports to the Lead Pastor. The Co-Director receives day-to-day instructions from the Lead Co-Director.

 

Salary - $20 per hour (limited Duration parallels school year schedule)


Duties/Responsibilities

·        Supervise and direct day-to-day volunteer operations.

·        Keep rotations and ministry functions running smoothly.

·        Assist with the Kids Club Ministry Lead Co-Director in developing, planning, and implementing educational, recreational, and social activities.

·        Oversee care and safety of the students to include First Aid Knowledge.

·        Connect and build relationships with children, parents, and families.

·        Oversee weekly administrative functions such as attendance tracking, maintaining rosters, and managing supplies.

·        Work with parents, school staff, and students relating to actions and behaviors.

·        Train, delegate, and supervise volunteers.

·        Monthly Prepare, organize, and implement day-to-day crafts, games, devotionals, snacks etc.


Requirements

·        Possess a basic knowledge and understanding of the developmental and educational needs of school-aged children.

·        Ability to lead adult volunteers and participating children in a loving and caring environment.

·        Maintain a relationship with Christ and a willingness to share the Gospel.

·        Able to share expectations and help others meet ministry outcomes clearly and accurately.

·        Strong organizational skills.

·        Problem-solving abilities.

·        Multi-tasker by listening and knowing what and when rotations and other functions need to take place.

·        Staying ahead of problems before they happen


Coaching and Feedback

The Co-Director will receive regular and caring feedback. This position provides an opportunity to gain experience in leading, directing, organizing, problem-solving, and providing care.
