Good Afternoon Salem Evangelical Church Family,

I very much look forward to being back with you this Sunday morning for church.  I am preaching from Ephesians 4:17-32 with an emphasis on not giving the devil an opportunity to lead us away from Jesus.  I will have some very specific things to say about the devil and Jesus.  Perhaps, invite others to tune in and join us online.

We will be meeting in the Worship Center as we did last week as that will be the time and place for the remainder of the year and beyond.  Our capacity is 100 in that room with social distancing and with wearing face coverings as per the order of the governor.

Classes will continue to meet throughout the day as scheduled.  Check with your small group leader if you have any questions about when and where you are meeting.

COVID-19 is on the rise big time.  I know many have strong opinions from all angles.  However, the fact remains, it is on the rise and we need to take precautions seriously.  I spoke with our denominational leader today and he shared that pastors and staff have now tested positive for COVID19 in four of our larger churches, significantly impacting their ministries.  Staff members are on 14-day quarantine.  With the news on our prayer chain this afternoon, COVID-19 is now impacting our church staff too and a 14-day quarantine is required for one staff member.

If you know of anyone in the church who has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been at any church event, activity or service, please notify me directly so I have the best information possible in making decisions to protect all of us as much as possible while at the same time trying to go about keeping the doors open as much as possible for as many as possible.

If you are 65 years of age or older and or have an underlying condition please use extreme caution in coming to any church activity.

If you are sick with what you think is a cold or the flu please do not come to church at all until fully recovered.

We will continue to livestream both Sunday morning and Wednesday night so you can watch safely from your home.

Please pray for success with therapeutics, for a vaccine, or simply for God to just make this go away!

Have a great rest of your day.  God bless you richly!

In Christ,

Randy R. Butler
