December 15, 2020

Good morning Salem Evangelical Church Family,

I trust you are anticipating a marvelous day on December 25th, as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Here are a few dates to keep in mind for December:

Christmas Eve communion services…

There are 43 spaces available at the 2 pm service.

There are 20 spaces available at the 3 pm service.

The 4 pm service is full.

We look forward to these services for those who can make it a part of their Christmas celebration.  WE WILL BE LIVE-STREAMING the 2 pm service so you can either watch it live or at a time more suitable for your schedule.

This Sunday, December 20th, is Christmas Sunday.  I will be presenting a special message on HOPE!  Please be praying for people who will hear this message that God will speak to many hearts.

This Sunday, December 20, there is no 6 pm prayer service.

December 27th, in keeping with past years around Christmas day, there will be the morning service live and livestreamed but there will be no classes meeting that day at the church including the 6 pm prayer service.

I look forward to the month of January sharing five messages on Sunday mornings highlighting five prayers Jesus prayed for his followers.

In addition, I will be sharing during the month of January four messages on Wednesday nights that will be live-streamed from the East Sanctuary beginning at 6:30 pm.

I am inviting you in January to the 6 pm prayer service where people gather together in the Worship Center to pray for part of, or all the hour from 6-7 pm.  While we certainly can pray at home or in smaller groups, there is something very special about seeing people in larger numbers in prayer.

It thrilled my heart Sunday to learn that two children gave their hearts to Jesus and one rededicated their life to Jesus.  ALSO, we are hosting kids from Highland school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week for their on-line learning.  Some of those kids came to church Sunday to hear about Jesus!

Dr. William Vermillion of O.M.S. asked me to announce to S.E.C. the Perspectives classes that begin soon.  This is a great ministry related to missions around the world.  Check it out and see if it might be a fit for you.  Go to

The Christmas passages in the Bible are so very special including Luke 2:10-11, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

We have so much to be thankful for in Christ Jesus.  We are blessed and can be a blessing to others with the love of Jesus.

Merry Christmas,

Pastor Randy R. Butler
