Dear SEC Family:

The New Pastor Search Committee has asked me to spearhead the Prayer Team for the upcoming season as Pastor Randy transitions out of the role of Senior Pastor of SEC.  Rather than form a new group of a few people who will pray specifically for our Pastoral search, we are asking the entire church family – including children – to come humbly before the Lord in a concerted effort to pray.  It is imperative that we seek God’s mind and wisdom in the days ahead.  We want His will to be done!

In his book, “The Practice of the Presence of God,” Brother Lawrence talks about continually staying in communion with God as he went about his daily life.  It would be wise for us to follow his example and pray throughout our day.  Driving the car, mowing the lawn, and even washing the dishes can all be done while having a conversation with the Lord.  Keep the conversation with Him going all through the day – in addition to your scheduled prayer times.  Join us as we seek the mind of Christ and cover our church body and leadership in prayer.

There will also be some upcoming times for corporate prayer.  We are asking that all Sunday School classes, Bible Study classes, Youth and Children’s groups, and all other ministries take time for focused prayer for a smooth transition.  Groups may even feel led to fast and pray during the next weeks and months.  Follow the leading of the Spirit as He guides you.  If you feel led to gather a group of your own to pray, please feel free to start one.  On the back of this letter, you will find a few guidelines to keep in mind while your group meets.

Finally, mark your calendar for Thursday, September 24th at 6:30pm.  We plan to have a church-wide night of Worship, Prayer and Praise.  The goal is to come together to seek the Lord as a Body of Believers and join our hearts as we seek God for His will to be done at SEC.  This will be a powerful night together.  We hope you will make it a priority to attend!

If you have any questions or need clarification, please feel free to contact me.

In His Service,

Joyce Wilhelm
