Suit Up, Church

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand 👣 firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your 👣 feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.” Ephesians‬ ‭6:10-24‬ ‭NASB.

   👊🏼 Greetings Church,

    Ephesians is one of my favorite NT letters. It is filled with theological teaching followed by practical application. In chapter 6Paul concludes the letter by calling the Ephesian church to stand 👣 firm in the strength of the Lord Jesus.

   Several times in the passage above, he uses “stand firm.” While we probably don’t get up each morning thinking that we are going into a spiritual battle, that is actually what we are doing. In light of who we are in Christ, we must realize that there is a battle before us, and we must stand 👣 firm in the spiritual armor that has been made available to us by God. Paul is clear that the battle we are in is not a battle against flesh and blood (here I must say that for our brothers and sisters in Christ in Ukraine – they have been called to do just that – prayers for them). Today, it is even more critical for you and me with more at stake: it is a spiritual battle. It’s not 🇷🇺 against 🇺🇦. But Christ has given us every resource we need to suit up, fight the battle, and be victorious.

   As men and women, we face a daily attack from the enemy. Satan knows that men who follow Christ Jesus are a powerful force to be reckoned with. His ultimate goal is to destroy the integrity and walk of the Christian family. If Satan can get to the hearts of men, he can destroy the home. If the home can be destroyed, the basic foundation of our society will go down with it. We have sat back far too long and let the enemy have his way. It is time to rise up and take charge, clothed in the full armor of Christ. Our families, churches, and communities deserve men and women who are fighting for victory. As Christian people, let’s take the call of Ephesians 6 seriously. The only way we will be able to stand 👣 firm is by being clothed in the armor of God. Don’t start your day without suiting up for battle. (And I say here. . . watching through the internet and world news, that the Ukrainian men whose ages are far beyond being young fighting men, suiting up for battle – appear, well. . . .I’m praying courage for them. . .to be brave and protect them in combat).

    ✍🏼 What are your current spiritual battles?

    ✍🏻 How have you neglected to suit up daily in the armor of God as described in Ephesians 6?

   🙏🏼 Ask God right now to give you the discipline to daily put on His mighty armor. . .Amen.

🎶 Stand up, stand up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His Royal banner, It must suffer loss.
From vict’ry unto vict’ry His army shall He lead
‘Til every foe is conquered And Christ is Lord indeed.

🎶 Stand up, stand up for Jesus, The trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict, In this His glorious day.
Ye that are men now serve Him Against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger And strength to strength oppose.

🎶 Stand up, stand up for Jesus, Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you, Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor, Each piece put on with prayer;
Where duty calls or danger Be never wanting there.

🎶 Stand up, stand up for Jesus, The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcome A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of Glory Shall reign eternally

Suit up Church. . .be sure you put your feet 👣 in the right place, then stand 👣 firm

Praying for you today.
