Update #4

Dear Salem Evangelical Church Family and beyond…

It has been a week for the record books.  I have had a week of ministry I never could have imagined.  It has been challenging but for more than that, it has been a BLESSING!  I am so glad God is leading, guiding and directing.  I trust you are watching the live streams or watching it on our website at  We plan to have church this Sunday via live stream at 9:15AM and 11AM.  You then can catch it on the website at your convenience.  Get out some bacon and your Bible and follow along!

The following is a reminder of the live streams we are doing weekly and then posted to our website so those of you NOT ON FACEBOOK can see the recordings too!

Sunday 9:15AM and 11AM  “In the Word”  LIVE STREAM
Monday-Friday 1:00PM  “Encouraging Times”  LIVE STREAM
Wednesday night Bible study 6:30PM  “Words from Jesus”  LIVE STREAM

We are also making contingency plans today, just in case the governor orders us to stay at home, to live stream from my home.  Each of the seven services offered will continue from my home.  Please know there are technicians and so many behind the scenes working so hard to make all of this happen.  In addition, our staff is working very hard to figure out what our “new normal” looks like as it seems to be changing almost daily.

If you have questions or comments you would like for me to address, you may email me or text me and I will respond to each one usually within 24 hrs. if not much sooner!

Our church has never been more alive!  I am loving the new opportunities and I invite you to do the same.  Below is an email from Jim Neifert.  He has been working very hard with staff for the past week, as I instructed them to reinvent how we serve our church. He has done that and the plan is outstanding.  Read below what I am referencing.

More than anything, we need to be praying for one another and for God to end this pandemic.  Please pray fervently for such miracles to happen in the near future.  We should be praying for God to meet each family’s financial needs, to pray for medicine to curb the deaths, for a vaccine in time that would be nothing short of a miracle, for medical people to get the equipment they need and for so many other needs that are arising daily.

Lovingly in Christ,

Pastor Randy R. Butler

We, as the pastoral staff, want to care for your spiritual and physical needs.  Over this next week, SEC will be instituting pastoral led care groups to reach out and care for you, our SEC Family, during this difficult time.  We will be connecting with you through your existing small groups such as Sunday School Classes, Bible Studies or volunteer groups.  We are looking for ways people can share prayer requests, stories where God is working, as well as possible needs the church may be able to assist with.  Connecting with you may include phone calls, emails, texts, Facebooking and possibly Instagram.  Along with the direct connections from our pastors over the next couple of weeks, our children and youth should be watching for live stream devotionals and Bible Story times from our Christian Education Pastors

SEC is in need of 25-30 people, who are younger than 50 and in good health, to assist us with meeting the physical needs of the church family and community over the next couple of months.  If you have time, we would welcome your help in assisting with providing food to those in need, as well as assisting people who may not be able to take care of errands or other appointments.  As short time volunteers, you may go through additional personal protection training.  This is a great opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ.  Volunteer work may include sorting and moving food boxes, running errands for those who have a high potential exposure rate, and running errands for the church as well.

You are encouraged to call or email the office to sign up for the prayer chain if you have not done so.  This is a vital part of SEC ministries in fighting the spiritual and physical battles we face during this difficult time.  Please take this opportunity to pray alongside hundreds of others in watching as Christ moves in the lives of the church and community.
