Good Day Salem Evangelical Church and Beyond…
March 16, 2016
INCREDIBLY NICE WORDS from so many of you from yesterday’s first live stream service. We are working each day to improve what we have started.
INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL ATTITUDES to continuous disappointing cancelations.
The CDC has now stated that for the next eight weeks groups of fifty or more cannot meet and those under that are urged to keep a social distance of six feet. The White House encourages people to stay home and avoid groups larger than 10. For these reasons, all church activities are cancelled until further notice. (Our first potential time of starting up again as of this writing is May 17). We will continue to live stream, so stay tuned in and invite as many people as you can to join us.
LIVE STREAM SERVICES:
“Encouraging Times” Monday-Friday 1:00-1:15 p.m. PST
“Words from Jesus” Wednesday 6:30-7:00 p.m. PST
“In the Word” Sunday 9:15-10:30 a.m. PST
The church office will continue with current hours and pastors are available for your spiritual needs.
A few have commented on the people they saw in the service last Sunday asking if they can come this Sunday. The vast majority of people you saw were staff and their families to give me a small audience to reference from. A few others showed up and we did not turn them away as we were under 250. We had about 115 in attendance and every family was about six feet apart from one another. This week will be different. Only necessary staff will be in attendance to keep under the new number of 50. If you show up, I am so sorry to say you will be turned away as we must comply with the spirit of the law to help end this virus.
GREAT NEWS…You can access the live stream directly from our web page…salemec.com. Our live stream will also very soon be on Vimeo and YouTube.
GREAT NEWS…We have been working for several years to be able to move towards online giving. As of today, you can give online. You can access the instructions by going to the website: salemec.com.
GREAT NEWS…New families joined us online yesterday, and we continue to gain new likes, new followers and new opportunities.
GREAT NEWS…We are able to reproduce the Sunday service to DVD for those who do not have the internet at all. If you know of someone for whom this is the case please ask them if they would like a DVD of the Sunday service. They will be free of charge, but we must be notified of how many and to whom we need to make a copy for. They can be picked up on the Thursday following the Sunday service at the church office or can be mailed if you let us know that.
GREAT NEWS…We are still going to have communion on Palm Sunday but you will be preparing your own elements. Begin that preparation the week before April 5. I will be leading you on that Sunday in holy communion during the online service.
GREAT NEWS…When this season of national emergency ends, we are going to have a celebration service like nothing we have ever had before.
I’ll close this writing with my devotional from today’s presentation of “Encouraging Times” …Philippians 4:5-7…Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
